Started Homeopathy for Sanjeev
8th July 2006
Started Homeopathic treatment for Sanjeev. The name of the medicine as disclosed by his doctor is Thuja 200. Started as advised, six tablets in the morning and six tablets in the evening. From now on, supposed to keep an accurate record of all changes in his behaviour. Hope I dont start doing the same all over again: look for changes with a magnifying glass, attribute all changes to the medicine and get worked up!!
Sanjeev was hyper towards the evening. Laughing out aloud and shouting when did not have his way. Following routines religiously.
9th July 2006
Still shouting and laughing out aloud, but more calm and sober as compared to yesterday. Sat with all of us in the evening to watch Rohit (older brother)'s CD on National Service. The CD lasted till 8.30 pm and Sanjeev sat quietly and watched the whole thing without any fuss.
Words from his tutor: "Laughing loudly, hand movements, nagging and screaming at times noticed only at home. He appears to be more matured and obedient at school."
10th July 2006
Sanjeev went to school, greeted his friends with a handshake when prompted. Hand movements about 90% reduced while at school. Passed wind a few times in school (yikes!). How do we get him to stop?? or atleast not to announce it with a loud "excuse me"!! Had an afternoon session of work on the computer. He did some colouring and typing, with prompt ofcourse. Anyway generally uneventful day.

Got myself attuned to level 1 and 2 of Reiki healing. Just amazes me! Never imagined one day I'd start believing in stuff like this. Would never have had the urge to try and look into different disciplines if not for Sanjeev and his autism. Anyway, gave one session of reiki in the evening after both Sanjeev and I had had a bath. Strange! he seemed to quieten down right before my eyes as I lay my hands over his head. He looked sleepy and when I asked him what he was feeling, he said he had a headache. I am not sure how reliable his complaint is. At 7 pm Paddu (his tutor) called him for the evening teaching session. Apparently he did not pay much attention during the teaching session. Ate his dinner at 8 pm rather reluctantly. Just as he was going to finish it, he threw up his dinner and also what he had had for lunch. Poor child! finally after settling him down, he had an apple and went to bed.
12 th July 2006
Went to school. Apparently was his usual cheerful self. Had some hand flapping and finger movements. New obsession with his baby chair. Carrying it up and down the stairs. Paddu hid it in the evening, because she was worried he may fall while carrying the baby chair precariously over the stairs. Didn't notice him searching for it. He seemed okay not seeing the chair around.

Had to travel to Tawau (another town about 2 hours away by road). I drove one of the cars along with Paddu. Shashi (Sanjeev's father) drove the other car to be sent to out older sons studying in West Malaysia. Initially Sanjeev thought that we were all going together as usual. Got a bit agitated and restless when he realised I left with Paddu earlier. We explained to him and he seemed okay. Even if he was unhappy, he didn't show it! This is just another example of how far he has come. Before, anything of this sort would have wasted a good part of the day in trying to coax and convince him, and would have got everyone's stress levels to the red zone! He was good in the car with Shashi all the way to Tawau. On reaching Tawau, we checked into a hotel. Paddu and Sanjeev stayed back in the hotel (Sanjeev had a lot of hand flapping, according to Paddu) while Shashi and I sent the car to the port. After that we had the whole day free. We had lunch in the hotel. Sanjeev was hungry and finished his food in a jiffy. Later he lay on the bed quietly while Paddu and I watched a movie on the TV and Shashi took a nap. Evening took him to the park, he was good as gold. No fuss. Just followed us around. Was not too keen to venture out trying the slides. The slides were in a deplorable condition anyway. Smart move son!! Followed that with a little shopping. He was with us while we shopped and then he got restless, Shashi took him out and bought him some fried peanuts. He sat in the car which was parked nearby and ate his peanuts. We bought back dinner to our hotel room again. This is getting fun!!
16th July 2006
Went for breakfast at a nearby restaurant. Sanjeev had not much choice. He ate turmeric rice with fried fish and sauce. After that we went for a drive. Went to the sea side and walked along the beach. Sanjeev seemed contented. Observed the boats, the crabs, the mudhoppers and the salamanders. He observed the closing leaves of the "touch-me-not" plants. We walked around till the sun came up. Then went to buy some school books for him. While in the bookshop he was constantly making his usual buzzing sound. We returned to the hotel after a brief stop at the market. Had lunch in the hotel cafe. Sanjeev finished his rice, fish curry and spinach and drank two bowls of clear chicken soup!! This guy's appetite is getting big. he is almost as tall as me now. Wont be too long before he will tower over me like his older twin brothers. On the way back home, Sanjeev looked dull and unhappy. Always happens, he does not want to go on a vacation and when he does, he wants it to go on and on... Reached home at about 4 pm. He was okay.
17th July 2006
The day started off as usual. Sanjeev went to school. Had some loud giggling fits while at school. The rest of the day went okay. He came down after the evening teaching session for his dinner. Did not see the maid, and came back to the study crying, screaming and angry. Whoa! hadn't seen him like that in a while. I tried to sit next to him to calm him down. He literally pushed me off the settee!! That instant I didn't know the reason for his outburst. I went down to talk to the maid and then Bingo! I knew why he was upset. He thought the maid was off!! So I called him to "show" Maria and then he was okay. Maria has anyone ever cried for you so dramatically??!! You are ONE lucky woman.
19th July 2006
Went to school. Did some group work. dont know how much he contributed but he sat quietly in the group and listened to what was being told. Had a bit of problem during his evening shower! Have been changing the bathrooms in which he bathes so he wont make that a routine. Paddu took him to bathe in the boys' bathroom and he seemed okay initially, but later on got angry. Was clenching his teeth and hand flapping. What is bothering him these days? He is going to be twelve this October. The surge of hormones and the inability to express quickly enough must be making him frustrated. How else can I explain the docile and incredibly cheerful and loveable little boy who turns into a screaming and flapping little horror, when he is upset. My heart breaks when I see his emotions trapped within the layers of his psyche, not giving him a healthy way of venting. Sigh! Had another screaming episode in the evening when Shashi came home with a packet of tapioca chips for Sanjeev. He shouted when asked to share and Shashi said he would not get any if he didn't share. Ugly. Had to intervene and calm both of them.
